Moreover, the EPD Drinking Water Division has recognized ASA’s expertise by recommending our services to assist water system operators in permitting community water systems across South Georgia. OUR HISTORY
1988
Albert E. Slone, R.L.S. formed the surveying firm, Albert E. Slone and Associates in Valdosta, GA in 1988. He started out with one employee to provide surveying services in the South Georgia region.
1995 – 1997
After 7 years in service as Albert E. Sloan and Associates with only one other employee, Michael O. Cooper, a Registered Land Surveyor, joined the firm with over 18 years of experience. In 1996, the firm began offering Registered Professional Engineering services. By 1997, Albert E. Sloan and Associates became ASA Engineering and Surveying, LLC and relocated to downtown Valdosta in a renovated historic building located at 105 W. Central Avenue.
2013 – 2015
Surveying Department Head, Michael Cooper, transitioned into ownership of the firm with the help of longtime employees and colleagues, Michael Wilson, Alan Hidy, and Jaden Dean, who subsequently became partners in 2015. While the ownership of ASA may have changed through the years, the quality of service and products remained constant while also evolving with new technologies and design techniques.
2020 – Current
In 2020, ASA decided to move once again into the historic block of South Patterson Street. What started as concrete floors and brick walls evolved into what is now the current headquarters for ASA Engineering & Surveying at 103 A. South Patterson Street. In addition to a new location, partnership changed once again with Michael O. Cooper as President and Partner, Alan Hidy as Secretary and Partner, and Jaden Dean as Managing Partner. Throughout this journey, ASA has remained unwavering in its commitment to excellence, pushing the boundaries of innovation, investing in cutting-edge technology, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
